I Found the Problem

Once I figured out and corrected a manufacturers defect, the vent hood works as advertised. I ordered and received my vent hood from Camping World Online store. Upon initial installation, the vent fan nor light would work. I pulled out all the tricks from my experiences and still would not work. Camping World sent a second unit in a very timely manner and it too had the same issue. Three wires connected properly but no power to light or fan. After digging a bit deeper, I was able to determine that the unit was not getting a "ground" connection. I installed a separate ground wire in an attempt to fix and still the issue persisted. As a last resort, I removed the ground wire from the unit to check continuity and was able to see that the ground surface area was painted with enamel. I removed the enamel, reinstalled the ground wire and the Vent Fan and Light work as advertised. Moral of the story, don't paint the ground area and think that running a painted screw through the ground terminal is going to provide a proper ground.
