Fragile and dangerous

The plastic D cup part that attaches to the gas valve is fragile, and dangerous. Our knob assembly cracked with ease, leaving the gas valve open with no easy way to close other than to shut off the main. The fact that the part is sold in this expensive complete assembly with no way of just replacing the plastic piece is an insult to the injury.

NOT SAFE

ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS! The original control knobs on my GE Cafe CGS980 SEM1SS started cracking at the attach point less than 2 years after purchasing. I've made a few bailing wire repairs and held off ordering replacements. Had a close call when gas wasn't actually turned off so I guess I'll bite the bullet and replace. Really poor design GE and should have been recalled and replaced years ago.

Very frustrated with cheap knobs that break.

I bought the GE Cafe Dual Fuel oven in 2008 and had to replace broken knobs in 2010. The rest of the product seems fine, but it is very frustrating to have to replace knobs at a cost of $50-$82 apiece. I am currently looking to buy replacements again.

Poorly designed

Every one of the knobs on my GE Cafe range has either cracked or has discolored or melted plastic. I bought one replacement and the new design is not the same diameter as the others so it looks ridiculous. Now I am faced with replacing all of the knobs and bezels for around $400. Not a happy GE customer. Now about that GE Cafe refrigerator....
